Adapt change grow

In the years and centuries to come, they will speak about this virus. How we individually and collectively dealt with the threat, the fear, the panic, the loss, the adjustment. We are all making history.

In the past week our brain was looking for a pattern match to what is happening currently. It couldn’t find one. Most of us have never experienced anything like this before. So you felt under threat, panic and fear. That is the most normal reaction to a threat to your survival and those you love.

One week on, and we already have established new patterns in our minds. We know the shops will not run out of food. We know we must keep 2 meters of a distance (about six and a half foot for those of you my age – I had to look it up – new learning there). We know we have a government who are working hard to help us. We know we are all in this together. There is connectedness. We know both in business and personally we must adapt, change and grow. We can get through this together. We are creating new ways of coping. We are establishing new patterns in our mind.

You can help by staying calm. You cannot be stressed and relaxed at the same time. It is not possible. If you are stressed and wired up, your immune system is compromised. Your job is to STAY CALM, STAY SAFE, STAY CONNECTED. Our brains will do everything they can to keep us alive. Our survival instincts switch on in the most amazing ways.

You can focus on tummy breathing. You can limit your listening to news once a day. You can have your shopping delivered. You can use the phone to stay connected. You can use your laptop for video calls some other type of media to keep in touch with love ones. You can practice social distance (no matter how hard it is approximately 6 and a half foot!). You can use this time to think creatively about how you can change your business model and/or your life.

We have seen so many acts of kindness in the past week. You are more resilient than you think you are. You have an amazing powerful sub conscious mind that can be used to help you right now. I am reminded of that quote “this too shall pass”. Perhaps even reciting that to yourself is setting up a pattern in your mind of focusing on what is positive even in these challenging times.

What have you done in the past week to stay safe? How have you helped others stay safe? How can you ramp that up this week?

We have all experienced our safety and connection being threatened, but, we can stay safe, practice staying safe, we can stay connected and our brain will build new patterns of coping, new strategies to rebuild our business and personal lives in a new way. We can adapt, change and grow.

Self worth is real worth

Self worth is real worth. The way to transformation is in developing your own self-worth. Stop listening to the critic within you. Stop wanting to be like everybody else. For there is only one you. You are as unique as each individual star in the sky. The turtle when he comes into the world knows instinctively that he must go into the water. He does not wait for others to tell him what to do. He doesn’t doubt his own instinct.

A lifetime spent developing your own self-worth, is a lifetime that well spent. It is your purpose in life. By doing that, you can change the world. By developing that self-worth you start to develop self-love.

There is no power in the universe that is as strong as self-love. And there live your principles. There are your goals. There is your determination. There is your focus. There is your motivation.

By genuinely working on your own self-worth know you are changing the world.

How so? Because those around you notice. They see how you have grown. You inspire others by, simply, being you. That drives humanity to want to do the same.

Some may work on self-worth. Some may work on self- doubt. The results are all too obvious to see.

if you spend your days working on self-worth you will begin to look upon yourself as worthy. You will begin to know and nurture self-love and compassion. Your destiny is in who you are.

Your self-worth is worth working on.

Begin. Start. Tear back the layers of self-doubt and build your self-worth to be solid and strong. Even if it takes forever, know you are worth it.

Goal Setting

Change is inevitable. As we head into 2017 ask yourself what changes do you want to make in 2017.

You might want to focus on a theme. It might be health, fitness, relationships. You may wish to limit anxiety/stress in your life.

Getting clear about your goals is important. Identify where you are now. Identify where you want to be. Learn how to set realistic, achievable goals to get you there. Working on achieving what you want brings a sense of fulfilment whether you work on your personal life or business life.

Including visualisation into your goal setting will only enhance the outcome. It’s easy:

  • Set time aside and write down what positive change you want
  • Ask yourself “what will that do for me”
  • Now imagine what you will see when you have achieved that.
  • What will you hear?
  • How will  you feel?

Allow yourself to really see, hear and feel your goal as if it has already happened. Write down your feelings about this. Now ask yourself:

  • What has to happen for me to achieve this?

Write an action plan.  Get specific about the date upon which you want to achieve your goal. Make it realistic, push out the date if necessary so that it is achievable. You will need to monitor your goal. Will you do this daily, weekly or monthly. Your goal has to be achievable. As yourself “is this achievable”. Once you are happy that it is achievable, then go for it. Put the steps in place so that you can move forward.

Visualise your goal often.  Make it into a movie in your head where you see, hear and feel whats its life to achieve that change. Play that movie in your head as often as you can. Make it a great movie, one that you are drawn towards more and more. Work on bringing that sense of fulfilment into your life and/or business.
