Springtime in Dublin

Springtime in Dublin. At last the rain has stopped pouring down. The sun is shining it’s warmth much more now. There is a sense of newness about in gardens. Green buds on brown branches. Flowers shooting up through the ground. Sturdy and strong. The birds sing in early morning light. A great stretch in the evenings. The first fly buzzing. And yet, there are those weeds that need tending to. Some are strong. It’s important when weeding to get to the root of the matter. Dig them up, get rid of them. It’s the only way for gardens to flourish.

Imagine your head is a bit like a garden.  There are beautiful plants and gorgeous flowers there. Think of the plants and flowers as your good thoughts, positive thoughts about yourself, but a few weeds have gotten in. Think of these weeds as your anxiety and fears. And you know what weeds are like, once they take hold, they just seem to take over. It’s important to get to the root of the matter and get rid of them. Free up your head from all that anxiety. Let it live free again. Focus on the good stuff. Nourish it, encourage growth and development.

Imagine being the gardener of your own head. You decide to get rid of the weeds that are holding you back. Planting new seeds of opportunity and growth. Make your head a place worth living in. A beautiful place where you are happy to spend some time in, be it day or night.

Anxieties come in different shapes and forms. Some are called anxiety, panic, some are called fears. These are just labels. Behind each label, there is a hurt. Some are secret hurts. Hurts that maybe you have told no one. Like a weed things get a bit out of control and seem hard to tackle. Just remember there are different tools to tackle weeds. And when you get rid of the weeds, the anxiety lessens. Why not look after your head and make the most of the beauty that wants to come out to play, wants to shine, wants to see the light and be nourished, wants to grow.

There are many different tools to help you achieve what you want. Wouldn’t it be great to finally tackle those weeds that hold you back and start this season of your life anew? Refreshed and ready to spring into action.

Tips on how to deal with anxiety

I work with a lot of clients who want to get rid of their anxiety. They often say;

  • “I’m not able to cope”
  • “I feel out of control”
  • “ My heart is racing and I am shaking” .

When you get into a state of anxiety, you are thinking in a different way. Here are a few tips to help you:

Tummy Breathing:
This is so important when you feel panicky or anxious. It will send a message to your brain that you are OK. Yes, you may feel anxiety but, when you tummy breathe your brain is getting the message;

“Ok she/he is a bit anxious but they are breathing through their tummy so they are OK.

Sit quietly and close your eyes. Place one hand on top of your other hand. Then place them just over your belly button. Then start to breathe into your tummy. Feel your tummy lift, hold that for a count of three, then release it. Do this for a few minutes and you will feel more relaxed and that’s what you need. If you don’t feel your tummy rising you are breathing through your chest, which will make the anxiety worse. If you are at home lie down, place a large book on your tummy. Breathe into your tummy you will feel it rise and you will become more relaxed and at ease.

The opposite of all that anxiety is relaxation. You can to LEARN how to RELAX and this is the first practical step. It’s so easy to do. You can do this while on the train/bus, when you are out and about or in company, or at a meeting. This simple exercise can have a massive positive impact on your levels of anxiety.

This is just one of the many things you can do to help youself to feel more in control. The more your LEARN to relax the more your anxiety will reduce.

So, if you need help with anxiety, I am here for you.

New seeds of thinking

Autumn, a time of letting go

The roadways are paved with crunchy golden brown leaves. Nature knows when to let go of what it no longer needs. Perhaps it’s time to consider letting go of what is not working for you.

Some people carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. If you are one of those people, ask yourself is it really worth it?

Let go of the burdens, the worries, the guilt, the insecurities.

Begin to plant new seeds of potential within your own mind. Tend to building and cultivating your own self esteem and your potential. Follow through on what really matters most to you. Get rid of the weeds that invade your way of thinking. Tend to the ideas, the dreams, and self belief that are so important in your life.

You don’t have to wait until a new year comes around. You could start now. A new season of opportunity. Time to leave behind a way of thinking that is no longer serving you well. Plant the seed in your mind of looking after yourself. Nurture it well, feed it with hope, drive it with motivation and begin to let go of old ways of thinking and start anew.
